It Was ‘Make Way For Ducklings’ The Bangor Edition in Downtown Friday
It was a scene that would have made Deer Ilse native and author of "Make Way For Ducklings," Robert McCloskey, smile, as a couple of Mallards made their way through Downtown Bangor on Friday afternoon.
There have been a pair of Mallards spotted in Bangor in years past, some right down around where the Bangor Police Department is located on Main Street. Coincidentally, the Bangor PD's mascot is a duck. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. And it's not known whether these birds of a feather are the same two or a separate pair.

While they may not have had ducklings walking out and about with them, their presence certainly had many in the Queen City 'quacking' up.
Liz Leavitt, who works downtown at Chimera Coffee on Broad Street, says she first spotted the birds near a local watering hole.
"They were just sauntering by Paddy Murphy's and then just crossed over to West Market Square. Everyone was pointing and snapping pictures."
"I tried offering them a piece of dried pumpkin left over from our community garden out front. He seemed mildly interested. He picked it up once or twice and then moved on."
"There was a family eating lunch out on the patio at Blaze, and their kids were quite excited."

Was it the sunshine that inspired the duck duo to visit downtown today?
Did they have an itinerary, or were they just "winging" it?
What we do know is that just as soon as they were done exploring the downtown area, the pair went back from whence they came.

Keep your eyes peeled, Bangor. You never know who, or what, you'll meet on a stroll through downtown.
