Drug Take-Back Day & Shredding Event Info For Bangor Area
Clean out Grammy's medicine cabinet before someone else does.
Time to get rid of all of those old meds that have built up over the months, the prescription drugs that you don't take anymore for one reason or another. It's also a really good idea as well to get rid of once-important documents with very sensitive information on them as well.
Kill two birds with one stone on Friday, April 23rd, as the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office and Records Management will be set up in the parking lot of Hannaford on Union Street in Bangor. Records Management will shred your documents free of charge between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the Sheriff's Office will gladly accept your unwanted prescription drugs from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The Sheriff's Office will be back in the Union Street parking lot on Saturday as well from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to collect old medicine, but Records Management will not be, so get there on Friday to shred documents.
Dropping off old and unwanted prescription drugs at events like this prevents them from falling into the wrong hands, future addiction, crime, and polluting our Maine waters, as there as those that will flush them down the toilet where they very well may eventually make there way into someone's drinking water.
Further downeast in Ellsworth, drug take-back day is held by the Chamber of Commerce office which is now next to Martha's Diner in the Ellsworth Shopping Center.
