Not every time a company or product changes their branding does it make sense to the population at large mostly because people don’t like change.  That said, the more inclusive name to be adopted by EMHS makes perfect sense.

On Monday October 1st EMMC and its affiliates that cover the state of Maine will be traveling under a new umbrella called Northern Light Health. The group told WMTW in Portland:

“The system says the name change is meant to reflect its evolution from individual locations with a regional focus to an integrated health delivery organization" that serves the entire state.”

Participating hospitals will include Mercy Hospital in Portland, Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. Northern Light Health will be one of the State’s largest employers and we wish them well with this new chapter.
