Don't worry.... the fair is still happening.

Update 12:33 PM: Fiar organizers now say the opening of the fair will be delayed until noon on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021.

The fair's opening had earlier been delayed until 5 p.m. on Thursday, according to a post on the City of Bangor Facebook page.I can't say I know exactly what time the fair was supposed to start, probably noon or something, but because of all this nasty rain, it has been pushed back to noon on Friday.

Other than that, it's still a green light. In fact, I drove by there myself yesterday and saw all the rides pretty much up, as well as all the vendor trucks and trailers. So you're not going to get screwed out of your annual dough boy this year. Personally, I'm hoping they have the giant donuts again this year.

But the fair is going to be shorter this year, right?

It's true, unfortunately. In past years, the fair usually starts during the last few days of July and goes well into the first week of August. But due to COVID concerns, things have been slightly curtailed. The fair will start today, and run through the weekend, and that'll pretty much be it when it wraps up right at the beginning of the week.

There's also going to be some crazy traffic tonight.

Just as the fair is opening the gates to throngs of fairgoers, Waterfront Concerts is also kicking off their abbreviated show schedule tonight with Luke Bryan. So traffic in that area of town could be a bit bananas. Leave yourself an extra few minutes to get through there, or find another way around.
