Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that suck! Today Ma and I grabbed our samuari swords and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘47 Ronin’.

This movie runs just over 2 hours and is considered a action, adventure, fantasy. It is rated PG-13 PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some disturbing images, and thematic elements and stars: Keanu Reeves, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ko Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano, Rinko Kikuchi

Summary:

This movie based in ancient Japan, follows the story of a child ‘Kai’ who escapes a mysterious tribe and is taken in by a family in a village of samurai.  He is considered a half breed and is treated poorly by most of the villagers except the king’s daughter who  becomes his friend and love.  When the village falls under the dictate of an evil leader who is aided by a witch Kai is called back by the village’s disgraced Samurai or “Ronin” to save the princess and village while restoring honor to her family.

Review:

This film was beautiful to watch set in the mountains of Japan and the costumes and sets were amazing. Although, Keanu Reeves is not the most talented actor he has his niche and in my opinion this is it. Samurai are a little stiff by nature and dialogue is brief and it works. The supporting cast is excellent and the effects are wonderful. On a scale of 1-10 I’d give ’47 Ronin’ a 9.
