Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Last night I grabbed my football helmet and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see 'Concussion'.

This is a biographical, sports, drama that runs just 2 hours. The movie is rated PG-13 for thematic material including some disturbing images, and language. The movie stars Will Smith, Bitsie Tulloch, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Willig

Summary:

A brilliant forensic pathologist in Pittsburgh, Dr. Bennet Omalu (Will Smith) seeks to find the reason reasonably young and otherwise healthy retired NFL players are going insane and he uncovers the truth about brain damage in football players who suffer repeated concussions in the course of normal play. However, his excitement of learning the truth to protect existing player is met with opposition and hostility by football fans and NFL.

Review:

Will Smith spent a lot of time with the real Dr. Omalu and it shows in his amazingly real depiction of this Nigerian doctor. Based on actual events and real players the story takes its time getting set up. A very well written story all the characters are well developed and relatable. This story just like ‘Spotlight’ reminds me that absolute power corrupts absolutely’ only this time the money making machine is the NFL, seemingly needing to be pushed into court before they will take responsibility for the lives and the families of the men that they use to make the machine run. The saddest part of these facts is that there are no football tactics or equipment that can prevent CTE .So on a scale of 1-10 I am giving ‘Concussion’ an 8.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
