It a wrap for Fort Knox this season.

Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory has closed for the season. Usually the end of the season is marked by five nights of Fright At The Fort, but the event was canceled this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. It's first time the annual event has been canceled since it began 20 years ago. The three weekend event is the fort's biggest annual fundraiser.

While the fort and observatory are closed, the grounds will remain open throughout the winter months. If visiting the fort asks visitors to not visit if feeling ill, wash their hands frequently, practice social distancing, and avoid touching signs, kiosks, buildings and benches to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19. In addition, gatherings of 100 or more people is prohibited.

Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory will reopen in spring 2021.
