Four Days Of Fun Planned For Lincoln’s ‘Loon Festival’ This July
The date for this year's "Lincoln Loon Festival" has been set and the countdown has begun.
Town officials say the event typically draws between 10 and 12 thousand people each year.
This year's theme is "Loon Olympics!"
The four-day celebration will kick off Thursday, July 18th, with a book sale, an art walk, a vendors market, and a loon scavenger hunt. Activities will take place between the Library parking lot along West Broadway, Veterans Square, and Cobb Field.

Shawn Rogers, Events and Communications Director for the Town of Lincoln says the Lincoln Loon Festival has something for everyone this year.
"...This 4-day event features live music, local food, artisans, a basketball tournament, The Redneck Regatta, a parade, fireworks over Mattanawcook Pond, and more."
This history surrounding the Loon Festival goes back quite a way in Lincoln, Rogers says.
"Loon Fest started as 'Lincoln Days' and really got going when we had the Sesquicentennial in 1979. It was rebranded to “Homecoming” shortly after that. In the mid-2010’s, it was renamed "Loon Fest..."
We're told there will be lots of music over the 4 days, as well, including a performance Saturday night by Nashville country music star, Kayla Wass (who happens to also be from Hampden.)
"Then at 7:30 PM “The Ultimate Disco Party Band” Motor Booty Affair will be closing the night out right before fireworks over Mattanawcook!... The annual Loon Festival Parade will take place on Saturday at 11 am. This year’s grand marshal is former NFL athlete and Lincoln resident, Matt Mulligan."

Other highlights of the festival include a Loon Calling contest, the 78th annual River Driver's Supper, The Redneck Regatta, a family color run to benefit The Paper Crane Project, and the Loon Olympics!
