It's certainly felt like every time we turn around lately,  there's another story coming out involving Maine authorities making arrests following investigations and drug busts.

You can add the most recent one in Greenbush to that count, as the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office says they arrested a couple of people there this week, in connection with alleged drug trafficking activity.

Early Thursday afternoon, on April 2nd,  after many months of investigation, the Special Response Team from Penobscot County searched a property on the Main Rd. in Greenbush and allegedly found drugs there. This all went down around 2:15 PM.

"During the execution of the warrant, law enforcement seized quantities of cocaine and fentanyl...K-9 Memphis was deployed to the scene. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the FBI, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Old Town Fire Department."

Authorities say 62-year-old Monroe Richardson from Connecticut was arrested at the scene and charged with a host of things, including Falsifying Physical Evidence, Misuse of ID, and Unlawful Trafficking of Drugs.

Another individual, 35-year-old Starr Russell, was also arrested. She faces similar charges of Falsifying Physical Evidence, along with possession of drugs. Russell also had an outstanding warrant and will face four counts of violating the conditions of her release.

The Sheriff's Office says they're still investigating the matter, and may pursue additional charges, and arrests may come at a later date.

They say this arrest is but a small part of a larger effort to cut down on drug trafficking in Maine, while also taking dangerous drugs off of Maine streets.
