Every week we feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Enfield!

The major attraction to Enfield is no secret. It's the large, beautiful body of water within the town. In fact, almost the entire East side of the town is covered by the 4 mile Cold Stream Pond!

The town was originally called Cold Stream as well, but was changed and incorporated in 1835. The town thrived on the lumber industry and continues to be involved with it today. There are currently about 1,600 residents of Enfield, but there are quite a few more in the summer with many seasonal cabins along the shores of the lake.

The town has no shortage of water with the Penobscot River bordering its western side and numerous brooks and streams including Brady Brook on which the Cobb Hatchery is located.
