It will be the biggest one here in Maine.

Over 700 acres of blueberry field in Township 16 may eventually be home to huge array of solar panels capable of producing 100 megawatts of electricity!

According to an article in the Bangor Daily News, Three Rivers Solar, which is the project's name, would be an effort between two Maine companies, Next Phase Energy Services LLC and Elliott Jordan & Son Incorporated, the owner of the property.

This very big solar farm which will be the largest one of its kind in Maine, would be located about a mile way from the Hancock Wind Farm between Osborn and Deblois, by Rocky Pond.

A 100 megawatt solar farm will be HUGE.  So far the state's biggest solar farm at 9.9 megawatts is located off Route 2 in Pittsfield,  By comparison, the Hancock Wind  Farm's turbines produce 51 megawatts of energy.

If eventually approved by the state, work would begin in 2020.
