A Biddeford man is facing charges in connection with the death of a 5-week-old child.

Biddeford Police and Fire Departments were called to a home at 37 Emery Street in Biddeford on June 15, 2024, for a report of an unresponsive baby. The child was transported to Southern Maine Hospital in Biddeford, where he died on June 20, 2024.

The death has been under investigation for more than a year, including an autopsy on the baby by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.

Officials determined the manner of death was homicide. The cause of death has not been released.

Biddeford, Maine Man Arrested for Death of a Month-Old Baby

Knapp was indicted by the York County Grand Jury on October 7, charging him with manslaughter.

He was arraigned on October 9, 2025, and entered a plea of not guilty. Knapp is being held at the York County Jail in lieu of $175,000 bail.
