
Connecticut Man Accused of Grabbing a Maine Border Agent’s Weapon
A Connecticut man was arrested in Maine after he allegedly assaulted a Customs and Border Agent.
Connecticut Arrested in Maine for Alleged Assault on a Border Agent
Devin Austin Bishop, 29, is charged with assaulting a federal official and failing to report his arrival and presence for inspection on February 22, 2026.
He was arrested on March 13, 2026.

The charges stem from an incident at the Lubec Port of Entry.
Maine Authorities Say a Man Sped Through the Maine Port of Entry from Canada
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maine, Bishop allegedly drove at a high rate of speed across the bridge from Campobello Island, Canada into the United States, swerving into the outbound lane to travel into Lubec.
A.U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Ooperations officer, who was on duty at the Lubec Port of Entry, pursued Bishop in an agency vehicle.
Bishop eventually stopped his vehicle on a road in Lubec, got out, and allegedly forcibly assaulted and resisted when the officer tried to arrest him.
Connecticut Man Arrested in Maine After Allegedly Resisting a Border Agent
At one point, Bishop allegedly grabbed for the officer's firearm. During the struggle, the gun discharged, but no one was hit.
The officer was eventually able to take Bishop into custody, with help from a passing motorist.
If convicted, Devin Bishop faces up to eight years in prison on the assault charge and one year in prison on the failure to report charge.
The FBI is investigating with assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
