Maine Man Arrested for Murder of Virginia Man Found in a Barrel

An Edgecomb man was arrested in California in connection with the murder of a Virginia man whose body was found in a trash barrel.

Maine Suspect is Charged With Being a Fugitive from Justice and Murder

Luke Krott, 26 of Edgecomb, is charged with being a fugitive from justice and will face a murder charge when he returns to Maine.

Police Began Investigating When a Body Was Found in a Barrel in Edgecomb

The investigation that led to Krott's arrest began on December 3, 2024, when the body of William 'Nate' Robinson, 34, of Austinville, Virginia was found inside a trash barrel in the Schmid Preserve on the Old County Road in Edgecomb. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where it was determined he died of a gunshot wound. His death was ruled a homicide.

Following an investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at 57 Conant Road in Turner on December 12, 2024, where evidence was discovered allegedly linking Krott to the murder. An arrest warrant was issued for the man who had been staying with his parents in Edgecomb, however the police learned that he had left the state.

Federal and State Authorities Tracked the Suspect Down in California

Maine State Police contacted the San Diego Police Department's Fugitive Task Force, FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Krott was finally located Monday evening, January 6, 2025, on a sailboat at a marina in San Diego, California. Krott is currently being held at the San Diego Central Jail on a fugitive from justice charge and will be charged with murder once he's back in Maine.
