With the Kiss or Diss fundraiser, the SPCA of Hancock County is giving folks a fun and funny way to celebrate (or not) Valentine's Day.

Celebrate Valentine's Day in Maine Even if You're Not in Love

This is probably the most polarizing holiday we have. People in love think it's an amazing day, a celebration of the love they feel.

But for those who have no significant other or are newly single, it's a day to get through as unscathed as possible.

Ellsworth Shelter's Fundraiser Gives Valentine's a Chance to Kiss for a Great Cause

Enter the SPCA of Hancock County, where they have a fundraiser that lets you Kiss or Diss your current or ex-Valentine.

You won't be kissing them at all, however, and someone else will be doing the dissing.

Actually, you should start the last word of that sentence with a 'p.'

For a $5 donation to the shelter in Trenton, between now and February 20, 2026, you have a choice - a kiss or a diss.

If you choose a kiss, one kiss-shaped sticker will be placed on the identifying sign for a shelter pet of your choosing. This reel shows beautiful Susie, who received two kisses at once.

But if you choose a diss, the process is a little different. You provide the shelter with your ex's name, and they'll write it on the bottom of a litter box.

The cats will then do their part to 'diss' on your ex.

All the money raised by the Kiss or Diss fundraiser will support the Prevent-a-Litter voucher program that covers the cost of pets being spayed or neutered.

The SPCA of Hancock County is located at 141 Bar Harbor Road in Trenton.

Kiss or Diss? The choice is up to you.
