Ahead of Super Bowl LX on February 8th, 2026—which featured a halftime show headlined by Bad Bunny—there was significant backlash surrounding the performance.

This led to the announcement of an alternate halftime show starring Kid Rock. After the show aired, Stephen King took to his X account to publicly question whether Kid Rock had been lip-syncing during the performance.

Someone responded, saying it’s tough to tell anymore and noting that Super Bowl performers are subject to certain requirements.

These requirements are why they believe a band like Metallica would never agree to do it, though they added that Kid Rock probably would. Stephen King then chimed in with his own opinion, saying he’s a big Metallica fan and thinks the band would make an incredible Super Bowl halftime show.
