A 19-year-old man drowned while swimming in Tumbledown Pond.
Westbrook, Maine Teenager Drowned While Swimming in Tumbledown Pond
The Maine Warden Service has identified the deceased as Bogdon Dosov, 19, of Westbrook.
Officials say he drowned while swimming in a pond atop Tumbledown Mountain after spending the day hiking with a group of friends.
The Franklin County mountain is located just north of Weld, in Western Maine.
Maine Teenager Dies While Swimming in a Pond Atop Tumbledown Mountain
The group started swimming in Tumbledown Pond at approximately 1:30 Wednesday afternoon when, according to the Warden Service, Dosov began to have difficulty swimming.
He slipped beneath the water and never resurfaced.
Witnesses swam to where he disappeared and recovered him from approximately 12 feet of water.

By the time he was pulled out of the pond, officials say Dosov had been submerged for between three and five minutes.
His friends called 911 and started CPR on Dosov, who was unresponsive, until first responders could arrive.
Maine Warden Service Says Maine Teen Died While Swimming in a Franklin County Pond
A Maine Forest Service helicopter transported EMS personnel and a game warden to the top of the mountain.
Sadly, despite their continued life-saving measures, Dosov passed away at the scene.
His body was transported off the mountain by the helicopter.
