
Xanax Recall Issued Nationwide for Specific Batch
There’s been a massive nationwide recall of a specific type of popular prescription anxiety medication.
Recalls from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are important because they alert the public to potentially unsafe or defective products, and paying attention to them can help you avoid serious health risks and keep you and your family safe.

One type of the commonly prescribed anxiety medication Xanax has been recalled nationwide, according to the FDA.
The recall affects 3-milligram Xanax XR (alprazolam) tablets sold in 60-count bottles, which were first recalled by distributor Viatris on March 17th and later expanded nationwide on April 15th after failing dissolution specifications.

The FDA classified the recall as a Class II, meaning the medication may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, with a low risk of serious harm.
The affected pills come from lot number 8177156, carry an expiration date of February 28th, 2027, and were distributed between August 27th, 2024, and May 29th, 2025.
It is recommended that anyone who has been prescribed the affected Xanax pills stop taking them immediately and dispose of them safely.
Xanax is commonly used to treat anxiety by helping calm the nervous system and is one of the most widely prescribed benzodiazepines in the United States.
