Season two of the hit Prime television series "Fallout" released the season finale on Wednesday, February 4, leaving fans wanting more. The show is based on the popular video game series created by Bethesda Studios that shares the same title.

But what many people don't know is that the games have a real connection with our beautiful state of Maine.

What is Fallout?

The series takes place in an apocalyptic, futuristic wasteland where nuclear bombs have been dropped on the United States, forcing humans to live underground for generations. So how does this relate to Maine?

Bar Harbor's new look in the game

In one of the more recent installments of the franchise, Fallout 4, players have the ability to purchase a DLC to add to the game's experience called Far Harbor.

The town that was once Bar Harbor is newly named "Far Harbor" when a radioactive phenomenon known as the fog rolls in, mutating the wildlife into ravenous creatures.

The harbor men try to make it work each day by straying away from the approaching fog and fighting back against the newly transformed creatures that threaten their home, from giant crabs to walking, humanoid angler fish.

Will Far Harbor ever make it to the Prime television series?

Perhaps if Mainers are lucky, their beautiful tourist town of Bar Harbor could be featured in the television series starring Walton Goggins and Ella Pernell. Although if it is, it won't be as appealing as vacationers remember from their last visit.
