Cats, just like people, can be loving, and wonderful but also a little complicated. In the case of the Hancock County SPCA's "Pet of the Week", this one is adorable, snuggly, and full of love, while also requiring a special diet...not a bad trade-off; hugs for tailored treats.

According to SPCA Shelter Manager, Cole, Pax is ready to be someone's "lap cat."

"If you’re looking for a plucky and loving cat to adore and don’t mind the cost of some special food, you should come to meet Pax at the SPCA of Hancock County. "

"Pax is only 4 years old, and he usually has big, overstimulated kitten-like eyes. With stunning white eyeliner and the pinkest toe beans, he’s a handsome boy and knows it, even if he is a few pounds more than he ideally would be. He loves toys, catnip, pets, and snuggles, and gets excited when he meets another friendly cat."

"What he doesn’t like are dogs - he will puff right up when he sees one. Pax is still a youngish cat but has had quite a history of urinary blockages, so he is on a special prescription diet to keep him healthy. "

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
