It's been a full calendar year since Costco opened their first store in Maine in 2023. The Scarborough location hasn't lost any steam either, with people piling in regularly to shop the warehouse giant for deals they can't find anywhere else.

But if you've any spent time watching Costco social media influencers, you know that there was seemingly one big thing missing from the Scarborough location during its first year. Something that those influencers say is one of the best deals around. Kirkland brand spirits, the in-house Costco brand.

The tide has finally turned and shoppers can now purchase Kirkland brand spirits like gin, whiskey, spiced rum, bourbon, tequila and more at the Costco in Scarborough. The store is also able to stock many of the name brand spirits that people have come to know and love as well.

But don't bust down the doors at Costco right now thinking you'll be getting some sort of crazy deal on name brand spirits. Costco, like every other agency liquor retailer in the state, is regulated by the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations. BABLO sets the shelf price for distilled spirits at every agency liquor store in the state.

On the flip side, Costco will still have an advantage if you're willing to ditch the name brand spirits for the Kirkland brand. All of the Kirkland brand spirits at Costco are substantially cheaper than their name brand competitors and in typical Costco fashion, the bottles are large.

You can find the new spirits section near the freezer section at the Scarborough store.
