In short: WATCH IT!

'Keith Richards: Under the Influence' made its world premier at the Toronto International Film Festival last week. Also premiering last week was Richards' new album 'Crosseyed Heart.' The documentary explores the many musical influences that brought Richards' first solo work in two decades to fruition.

The documentary wasn't even supposed to happen. It all started when filmmaker Morgan Neville was called for a sit-down interview with Keith Richards. After an hour of talking and having a blast the cameras just kept rolling. The result was this unexpected documentary.

Maybe it's that unscripted, spontaneity that makes this documentary worth your time. The film is simplistic. It shows Keith Richards, being Keith Richards. A true look at the man behind the lit cigarette, and brain under the banana.

Admittedly I haven't listened to 'Crosseyed Heart' enough to lend an educated analysis on the album. The film dives deep into all the music and artists that inspired the various genres Richards' blends together. After seeing where his influences came from, it's neat to listen again and hear those musical mentors shine through. The album features bluesy rock and roll, to country, even reggae.

In addition to the cool look at Richards' life at age 71, the film shows off cool Rolling Stones arrival footage.

'Keith Richards: Under the Influence' is available to stream on Netflix now.
