
59 Years And Counting! Registration Is Open For This Year’s Kenduskeag Stream Canoe And Kayak Race
The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for the running of one of the most popular annual river races in Eastern Maine, the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race.
This year marks the 59th year folks will have gathered to either paddle the 16.5 miles of water of the Kenduskeag Stream, or to watch from one of the many spots along the way, especially near Six Mile Falls.

Registration is now open for this year's event, which will take place on Saturday, April 18th.

According to the Parks and Rec Department, the race will start at 11 AM this year, at the Kenduskeag Union Church (on the Kenduskeag-Levant Road) and finish up in Bangor, by the Sea Dog Restaurant, where people will also be gathering to celebrate afterwards.
"Awards will be held at the Sea Dog Brewing Co. FREE Chili, Chowda, & awards ceremony location sponsored by Sea Dog Brewing Co. FREE Warming Tent with snacks sponsored by Darling's Insurance Agency, Darlings Ford, Honda, and Kia Dealerships."
Participants can enter the race in one of four classes: Open, Experienced, Beginner, or Recreation.
There will be three portages in total, two that are mandatory and one that's optional.
They say that WABITV will be airing a portion of the race live from 1-3 PM, for anyone who can't make it streamside to watch.

You can register right up until the morning of the event, but it is less expensive if you do it in advance.
