A New Filipino Food Market Just Opened On Stillwater Avenue In Bangor

For folks looking for authentic food and ingredients from the Philippines, there's a new market in Bangor you're going to want to check out.

The Buena Vista Filipino Food Market just opened in the shopping plaza across from Target on Stillwater Avenue, in the spot Betty's Ice Cream used do be.

They're goal is provide Eastern Maine with all the fixings to make traditional dishes from the Asian islands.

According to their website, the business, which started in the South Portland area, recently expanded to Bangor and not only offers folks fresh produce and supplies they may not be able to get anywhere else, but also gives people the opportunity to place online orders, as well.

Folks familiar with their southern Maine store say the Bangor storefront is even larger than their spot in South Portland.

For those not familiar with traditional Filipino food, as with some other Asian delicacies, the food is full of flavor, usually served with dipping sauces both sweet and sour, and consists a number of rice, meat and vegetable dishes. Some of the better known dishes include Pancit, Lumpia and Leche Flan.

The store is open Thursday through Tuesday, 9 AM to 7 PM. They're closed on Wednesdays.
