Local Critical Care & Medical Transport Non-Profit Earns Excellence Award
They're the people who answer the call to help, often in the most dire of situations, and when they do, they literally go above and beyond. Since 1998, LifeFlight of Maine has transported more than 40,000 people.

According to their website, that's an average of one person every 3.5 hour, every day of the year.
"Our mission at LifeFlight is about so much more than just helicopters. We deliver ICU-level care with the speed of aircraft to anyone in Maine when they need it most. We give people in Maine — our friends, families, colleagues, and neighbors — their best chance on their worst day."
Recently, the folks from LifeFlight of Maine got top honors for being the top dog at what they do! According to their Facebook page:
"We are honored to be this year’s recipient of Vertical Aviation International's (VAI) 'Salute to Excellence Safety Award.' The award recognizes LifeFlight’s 'exceptional contributions to enhancing safety and safety awareness in vertical aviation operations.'
... Safety briefings, safety committees, safety training, post-incident safety reviews and uncompromising standards for each discipline were coded into the DNA of LifeFlight of Maine over the years and persist to this day. A culture of safety permeates LifeFlight’s critical care services across its helicopter, airplane, and ground transport programs."
The post went on to thank the leadership team, the LifeFlight crews, and all the donors who contribute time, talent, and funds to keep this service going.
LifeLight provides helicopter, airplane, and ground transportation in emergency situations. To find out more about them, check out their website, here.
