
Authorities Identify Three People Involved In Deadly Crashes In Penobscot County This Month
Just over a week ago, a section of Route 9 in Eddington, by the Eddington Town Office, was closed down as crews cleaned up the debris and investigators looked into the circumstances of a crash that killed one person and sent another to a local hospital with injuries.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office reports that the incident occurred on Monday, June 8th, at approximately 1:00 PM.
"Wendell Thayer, 50, of Bradford, was operating a NE Kenworth company van when he crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a Versant Power pick-up truck. Thayer was pronounced deceased at the scene. Michael Dinsmore, 48, of Millbridge, was driving a Versant Power pick-up truck during the crash."
Dinsmore was taken to a local hospital, where he received treatment and was subsequently released.

Authorities say that while the investigation into the crash continues, they do not believe any charges will be brought forth as a result of the crash.
There were also fatal accidents in the Penobscot County towns of Bradford and Glenburn in the past two weeks.
95-year-old Chester Michaud of Bradford was struck by a sedan on Route 221 in Bradford and passed away at the scene.
68-year-old Frederick Gainer of Stetson was riding his ATV on Beech Grove Rd. in Corinth when it left the roadway and crashed last week. He died as a result of his injuries he sustained in that accident.
The Maine Department of Transportation says there have been 32 fatal crashes on Maine roadways so far this year. Just in the last 2 weeks, at least two people have died in motor-vehicle-related accidents in Penobscot County.
