Confused Out-of-Stater Asks if Maine Roads Close Down at Night
I'm sitting here, trying to think of the dumbest question I've ever asked.
I'm sure I could come up with a few, but my life revolves around asking accidentally inappropriate questions, at the wrong time. So I'm not sure, I wanna go down the self-shame rabbit hole in this format. But, I'm sure all of us could think back to a time when we've asked a question we wish we hadn't.

Because of these situations though, I've learned the importance of thinking through what I'm about to say, before I open my mouth. Thankfully, for the rest of us, not everyone takes the time to do this very important thing. That way, we can choose to either let them off the hook, or we can choose to roast them for their silliness.
A recent Reddit post endangers my faith in humanity...
As Mainers, we certainly give our fair share of flack to non-Mainers. We're rough on tourists, we're rough on new residents... One could say we're just tough on anyone who's not actually born and bred in Maine. But sometimes, they just hand us reasons to shake our heads and walk in the other direction.
This person on Reddit said they came up to visit Maine and loved it. But as they prefer to drive at night to avoid traffic congestion, they observed that there were basically no other cars on the road. At 2:00am... They went so far as to ask if we had a ban on driving at night in Maine. Like, what?
This flatlander was promptly roasted to a crisp in the comments.
There were some people who left cheeky little comments, but there was one that totally stood out to me, and seems like the only appropriate course of action when answering an absolutely silly question:
Legend has it there's a mythical beast of epic proportions that roams these woods at night.. half man.. half moose... half lobster. And the only sure protections against him are commenting about how dahk its gettin' early to strangers, and being in bed by 9pm. If you're ever caught on a dark back road in the middle of the night and you hear its screams, you're too late. You've been warned..

It hilarious to me at times, that people can't think through the simplest things. Like, even if it's a joke, why would you go to another state's social media page, and make it seem like we live in the middle ages? I guess when your whole life revolves around being a city slicker, you can't fathom that us country bumpkins know a thing. Sigh...
