Will Bangor, Maine’s ‘Spirit Halloween’ Switch to ‘Spirit Christmas’?
I have friends that take Halloween super seriously.
I love the idea of Halloween, but I don't really participate. I remember when my wife and I bought our first house, we were all-in on the idea of handing out candy, not knowing that we had moved into a neighborhood that was basically Halloween Central. I made three trips to the store, trying to keep up. The next year, we shut off the lights and watched scary movies in the basement living room, hahaha.

But some of my friends start looking at Halloween right after the 4th of July, arguing there are no major themed holidays after the 4th. I can't argue with that, I guess. But to be fair, I also know some people that get the same way when it comes to Christmas. And that, I am totally guilty of. I wish it were Christmas all the time.
Is it possible Bangor may unexpectedly combine the two?
There's some chitchat online, that Spirit Halloween stores in the Northeast will transition in Spirit Christmas for the holiday season. 10 locations have been chosen as test spots for this venture. Although, it's apparently been done before. It happened in the 90's and again in the mid-2000's for a spell.
Spencer's, as in Spencer's at malls everywhere, has owned the Halloween Spirit brand for years at this point. And they're the ones who've decided to give this concept another try. The closest confirmed location to us is Massachusetts, but they're also being fairly tight-lipped about whether or not there will be additional spots.
People around here would probably flip over this idea.
There's been a big hole in the Bangor shopping scene since Christmas Tree Shop went belly up. Granted, Reny's is there now, and we all love Reny's... but I think Bangorians would flock to a place like this. People love to be able to have some one-stop-shopping for all their little Christmas trinkets.

So only time will tell in the coming weeks, whether or not our store will flip to Christmas. But the first one opens in New Jersey next week. I doubt it would get going here before Halloween, but let's see what happens right after. All we can do is cross our fingers, and hope that a new Christmas shopping option is on the way.
