New Restaurant Finally Opens In Old ‘Ground Round’ Building On Odlin Rd. In Bangor
It happened so quickly at first, but then seemed to go on forever!
When the old Odlin Road location of Bangor's legendary eatery 'The Ground Round' closed in January of 2024, it seemed like a very abrupt decision.

Later it came out that Bangor City Councilor Dan Tremble, who owned the building, decided to close the building rather than rush through the very big, but very necessary and overdue project of replacing the plumbing and ripping up floors.
Months passed and the structure stood vacant, until in May of 2024, when a big dumpster arrived on scene. Word spread that that Eric Guzman, who owned Las Palapas in Bangor, had leased the building and was planning to open a new restaurant in the space. Repairs and renovations had to be done first.
It was originally thought the the work would be completed by the fall of 2024, but it ended up taking longer than expected.
Well all the hard work is finished and the wait is now finally over.
It was announced this week, via the Las Palapas Facebook Page, that the new restaurant, Roca Azul, is now open!
With a slightly different menu from their other restaurant, Las Palapas, both for food and specialty drinks, Roca Azul (which means blue rock) features separate seating options of family dining area and a bar dining area.
Here are some other options for spots to eat in the Bangor area.
