They're a staple for any river race, and you'll likely see the Kenduskeag Stream littered with them in just two weeks, when competitors from all over converge on Bangor for the 59th Annual Kenduskeag Stream Race.

But each year, before that race takes place, another competition occurs, one where folks battle to find the best deals on scratched or dented canoes and kayaks.
If you've ever spent any time on the water in Maine, then Old Town Canoe Company is a name you're likely familiar with.
Whether you're looking to buy a boat to race in, or planning ahead to purchase a backup (in case yours floats away during the race!)..It might not be a bad idea to swing by the Old Town Canoe Company's 'Annual Scratch & Dent Sale' this year, which is conveniently scheduled to take place the weekend before the big race.

Ski Rack Sports, at 24 Longview Drive in Bangor, will be hosting that sale again this year, as they have in the past.
They say this year's event will take place over the weekend of Friday, April 10th, Saturday, April 11th, and Sunday, April 12th.
"We will also be offering 20% off on all accessories from brands like NRS, Carlisle, Werner, Aquabound, Bending Branches, Bic, Obrien, and many more! The sale hours are Friday 9-7, Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 11-4. We hope to see you there!"
The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe and Kayak Race is scheduled to take place Saturday, April 18,th, this year.
Locals know that if you're looking for deep discounts on these legendary vessels, the Scratch & Dent Sale is a good place to find one.
Word to the wise, you'll want to make sure to go early, as you may end up with slim pickings by the second day, if you're not careful.
