Familiar Faces Behind New Restaurant To Open Inside Penobscot Valley Country Club This Spring
You'll soon be able to play a round of golf and grab a great burger and cold beverage in Orono, as a new restaurant gets ready to open its doors. And the folks behind the scenes will have familiar faces if you've spent any time in Downtown Bangor.
For the last few years, Darren and Sybil Currier have owned one of Downtown Bangor's beloved beer spots, 'Nocturnem Draft Haus'. They purchased the bar from Gene Beck in the spring of 2023.

Recently, the pair has started a new adventure, just a few towns over from Bangor, in Orono, at the Penobscot Valley Country Club.
PVCC is itself under new ownership, having been acquired last year by Matt and Nora Kirtland, who also own Lucerne Golf Club. The PVCC sits at 366 Main Street in Orono (since it was built in 1924). The club has had several owners over the last couple of decades. Most recently, Larry Springer owned the place, purchasing it in 2023, just in time for the club's 100th Anniversary.

The new owners, the Kirtlands, are working with the Curriers to bring new life to the old 'Donald Ross Grill' by way of a new bar and grill, tentatively named the "Eagle View Bar and Grill" (they're still waiting to see if that name sticks).
Two weeks ago, Currier took to his Facebook Page to tease the upcoming change.
"Today, we officially signed on to run the Food & Beverage program at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono. We couldn’t be more excited to begin this new partnership. This will be a completely different vibe. A completely different menu. A completely different cocktail program.
The owners confirmed that, in addition to hoping to open both courses for play by this weekend, weather permitting, they are also eager to open a new restaurant and bar within the club.
Currier goes on to say that while they have not yet set an official date, folks can keep an eye on the Facebook Page to stay up to date on when they will be open for business.
