Popular Haunted House Will Open Its Doors This Season After Missing Past 2 Halloweens

A popular Halloween attraction in Eastern Maine, that has been canceled the past two years due to Covid restrictions and concerns, will be making its triumphant return this fall.

For decades, folks have enjoyed getting a good scare from the Kenduskeag Haunted House. The event raises money for the Kenduskeag Recreation Department.

Unfortunately, organizers had to make the hard decision to cancel the event in 2020 and 2021.

According to the Kenduskeag Haunted House Facebook Page,

"The haunted house takes hours of work to build and tear down, as well as many volunteers. We are a small group of people (6) that organize this to help raise money for our community. We are fearful that we would spend hours building and have a mandate come down from the state that we would not be able to follow and all of that work would have been for nothing. We are hoping this will all be behind us next year and we can finally open again!"

The good news was released this week that not only did they plan on being back this year but they also plan to be better than ever.

"We are planning to have the Kenduskeag Haunted House this year after 2 years off! We are having a planning meeting for those interested in volunteering on September 1st at the Cole Memorial Ball field at 6 PM. Come find out what it takes to scare the pants off someone!"

There's typically a $5 admission fee to get into the display. They can see anywhere from 500 to almost 1,000 people an evening during the Halloween season, so there is sometimes a bit of a wait to get it.

The Kenduskeag Haunted House is located at the Cole Memorial Ball Field, 536 Kenduskeag-Levant Rd. in Kenduskeag. They are open the last Friday and Saturday of October, from 7 PM until midnight.
