Authorities Say Rockport Woman Set Fires That Destroyed Half Her Home
Authorities say that a woman from Rockport set multiple fires at her residence that ultimately destroyed half of her home.
According to the Department of Public Safety, crews from both the Rockport Police Department and the Rockport Fire Department were called to the scene of a fire at 327 West Street on Tuesday afternoon.
The only person home at the time of the fire was 35-year-old Andrea Annis, who managed to get away from the fire and was uninjured.
"Upon arrival, first responders discovered evidence of several additional fires on the property. Those fires were no longer actively burning... After an initial investigation, Annis was arrested at the scene by investigators from the Office of State Fire Marshal, with assistance from the Rockport Police Department. She faces multiple charges, including several counts of Arson, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, Burning Prohibited Materials, and Burning Without a Permit."
Annis was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated. Once cleared, she will be transported to the Knox County Jail
Authorities are still looking into the matter.
Two years ago, the house appraised for just under $290,000. It's not known if the house was insured.
