The myth has always been that men are better at navigating than women, right? Well now a group of scientists believe they have figured out that it is true and why, sorry ladies. :)

According to a study published by Evolution & Human Behavior men have better spatial skills.  What that means in the world of navigation is that spatial ability in essence lets them put together their environment like a puzzle of sorts. In the test conducted by scientists had the participants in the study do different tasks and looked for male-female differences and correlations among those differences. They tested volunteers' ability to rotate objects mentally in addition to other spatial perception and navigation tasks. They also looked at the distance and area to which the subjects would roam.

The study concluded to find that men traveled farther than women and to more places than women. In addition, the men who did better on the mental rotation task traveled further both during their lifetime and the past year than other men.

Which of course begs the question… Why do men roam?  "The answer they believe to why should men genetically be disposed to better benefits from spatial ability than women, according to one of the researchers, "One hypothesis, which our information support, is that males, more than females, benefit reproductively from getting more mates, and ranging farther is one way they do this."

Yup their cruising for chicks, go figure.
