T.B.T… I-95 Listeners Share The First Album They Ever Owned
JStew & Cori with you here with our Throw Back Thursday question of the day: What was the first album you ever owned?
JStew: My first album was a banger right out of the gate. Like most kids growing up in the late 70's/early 80's, I was completely obsessed with Kiss, thanks in no small part to the older kids in the neighborhood that I thought were the coolest dudes on the planet. If they were into it, I was into it. So I took my $1 that I earned vacuuming, and bought Love Gun at a yard sale. I was so young, I didn't even know you could flip a record over. I listened to side 1 about a thousand times before my older sister showed me you could turn it over and there were more songs. What a discovery! Hahahaha.
Cori: I grew up in the era of mix-tapes, and make no mistake, I had a TON of those. But I didn't get my first legitimate album till I was in the 6th grade. (I really didn't feel the need to till then because I taped what I wanted to listen to right off the radio.) I had discovered Guns N Roses, and loved the song "Patience", so I made my mom buy GNR Lies, despites the Parental Advisory sticker on the front of it. I think, if she's actually listened to any of the songs aside from "Patience", she probably would have regretted that decision, but what she doesn't know, can't hurt her now, right?! ;) I remember getting the cassette, and combing through each word and imagine on the little jacket cover. That's one thing you didn't have with mix tapes; album art of song lists and "special thanks" sections. I was totally fascinated with that aspect.
Of course, nobody should specifically be held accountable for what their first album was. Some of yours were awesome because of how terrible they are. Check out everyone else's.....
