Tanker Overturns In Old Town Ejecting Driver; Maine State Police Investigating
A tanker full of water ended up overturned in a median in Old Town, with the driver ejected, shortly after noon on Friday, authorities say.
Traffic along that route was backed up for a short while due to the accident.
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, the incident happened in the southbound lane of Interstate 95, near mile marker 198.
"The driver, 58-year-old Robert Pierce of Westbrook, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Troopers arrived quickly and rendered medical aid. Old Town Fire & Rescue transported Pierce to Eastern Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. "
Authorities had to close both lanes of traffic along the southbound side of I-95 for a short time as crews from Bouchard's Towing and the Maine DEP performed the cleanup and removed the tanker from the median.
