This Adorable Dog Has Been in a Maine Shelter for 395 Days and Needs a Forever Home
While adopting pets can be one of the most satisfying and rewarding experiences people can have, there always seems to be a handful of pets that fall through the cracks through the process. Everyone loves kittens and puppies, and even younger cats and dogs that show plenty of youthful exuberance. But often times, pets of a certain age are overlooked and left behind, stuck to live out their days in a shelter without a family to call their own here in Maine.
Shared on Facebook by the Bangor Humane Society, this has been the unfortunate case for Bailey, a nearly 10-year-old hound who has spent more than 13 months without a forever home. Known as "Bails" within the humane society, she can be a bit of a loud gal when she's searching for attention. She's also never seen a bowl of food that she doesn't want to scarf down, leaving her a couple pounds overweight. Some of her charm lies in the tricks she's acquired over the years, and she's willing to perform them for the right treats.
As with many dogs who have matured into a routine, Bailey can't just be adopted into any home. She's suited for a place where she is the only animal and the house is her domain. If you're someone with children, they'll all need to meet Bailey in advance to ensure there's a connection. Her most perfect match would be with someone living a more rural lifestyle and searching for a dependable and caring best friend.
A commenter on the Facebook post offered to cover the adoption fee if Bailey can find the right home. If you're interested, please contact the Bangor Humane Society at 207-942-8902 and set up a visit with Bailey.
