Top Ten Worst Bangor Intersections for Car Crashes
Face it. We’ve all come pretty close to having a fender-bender within the Bangor city limits. Maybe you already have. There’s really nothing worse than hearing that horrible sound of metal hitting metal and then standing off to the side of the road while waiting for a Bangor cop to show up. It’s certainly one of the loneliest feelings in the world.
We’ve all got those few intersections that we absolutely dread and do our best to avoid. The intersections on a very crowded Broadway during the workweek, the ones on Stillwater Avenue during the busy holiday shopping season, and the perpetual confusion where I-395 meets up with the Odlin Road all come to mind.
There are those that drive through these intersections every day to and from work and know-how to get through them safely, and then there are those that do not. The college students from out of town driving through on their way to class, the visitors that just picked up their rental car at the Bangor International Airport, and then the shoppers from away who converge upon the city on the weekends, all add to the confusion of a busy intersection.
So, with a whole lot of help from the Maine Department of Transportation, we thought we’d dig up the facts and figures of intersection car crashes within the city of Bangor between 2019 and now.
Overall, between 2019 and this writing, there have been a total of 3,606 car crashes in Bangor, with the majority happening Monday throughout Friday. Friday was the worst day for car crashes with a total of 642, and Sunday saw the least, with 287. As one would imagine, the majority took place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The majority of crashes also happened when the sky was clear and the roads were dry.
So, grip that steering wheel tightly and be ready to push the brake pedal to the floor, because as far as we can tell, here are the top ten worst Bangor intersections for car crashes.
