UPDATE: I95 NB in Augusta Back Open, Driver Arrested for OUI

Maine State Police have arrested the driver of a tractor trailer that crashed on I95 northbound in Augusta this morning.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Maine State Police responded to the crash at approximately 7:50 Friday morning. A tractor trailer crashed at mile marker 115, in the northbound lane of I-95 in Augusta. Upon investigation, it was determined that the tractor trailer, which was hauling PopTarts and Cheez-its, had gone off the right side of the road and struck the rock ledge. It rolled over and came to rest with the cab of the truck in the right-hand lane. The driver, 61-year-old Miles McIntyre of Wildomar, California sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

Police say it was determined that McIntyre was operating under extreme fatigue. Troopers found evidence of narcotics and tested the driver, who was deemed impaired and unsafe to drive. He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, driving to endanger, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. McIntyre was transported to and booked at the Kennebec County Jail. The case has been referred to the Kennebec County District Attorney's Office, where the charges will be reviewed for prosecution.

The accident scene has been cleared and both northbound lanes of the interstate are fully open.
