The alert, issued via the University of Maine Campus Police Facebook page, shortly before 10:30 Monday morning was short and to the point:
"Local law enforcement is conducting an active search for a wanted individual near the University of Maine Machias campus. Subject is described as a male, 5'6", wearing a dark Carhartt type coat over a gray sweatshirt and jeans. Do not approach and call 911 if seen."
According to the UMaine website, classes ended on the Machias campus on May 1st, so typical student traffic in the area should be down significantly from when classes are in session.

Authorities have not yet released what the individual in question is wanted for, or any other details, simply that he is in the area, and people should beware.

The last time the University of Maine Campus Police issued a 'Timely Warning Notification' alert warning folks to keep an eye out for an individual was back in November of last year, when a criminal trespass notice was served to a man after an alleged harassment situation took place on the Orono Campus.
