WATCH 2020 Wreaths Across America Convoy
This year's abbreviated Wreaths Across America convoy departed Washington County this morning, and is on it's way to the National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
Watch as the convoy made it's way up Bridge Hill in Ellsworth this morning at about 10:15 or so. After parading through a variety of cities and towns in Maine, the approximately 267,000 wreaths made right here in Maine by the Worcester Wreath Company in Washington County will be laid beside the headstones of fallen members of the military this Saturday the 19th, which is National Wreath Day.
Normally, the convoy would have been much longer with many more big rigs and vehicles, but of course due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ceremonies that normally would have been held along the way will not. Any scheduled events that will take place along the route south will not be open to the public. Normally, the convoy would start on a Saturday, but this year it began on a Tuesday.
The wrapped Chevy vehicles in this year's convoy carried members of Gold Star families, the relatives of those in the military lost while serving their country.
We wish this year's Wreaths Across America convoy godspeed, and thank everyone participating for recognizing the fallen that served their country well and are now laid to rest in cemeteries nationwide.
