Now who could be responsible for this?

As of 1:52 this Tuesday afternoon, crews from Emera Maine are responding to a power outage in the Orono area affecting 1970 of its customers. The company blames the outage on " wildlife contact inside a substation."

Let us speculate and be more specific.  Mr. Squirrel strikes again.

As a matter of fact squirrels are responsible for the majority of wildlife involved power outages across the country!  Don't believe us?  Then check out CyberSquirrel1.com, a website that will tell you how many power outages caused by squirrels since 1987.  The figure is absolutely, nutty.

Anyway, keep track of today's power outage in Orono by using Emera Maine's interactive map.

Remember, never touch a downed power line. Leave that to a daring squirrel.
