Extensive Detour for the I-395 Expansion Project Starts Next Monday
It's hard to believe this will all be done in a couple of years.
If you live in the Brewer/Holden/Eddington area, all you've been hearing about for years is the I-395 expansion project. It finally came to pass a little over a year ago, and progress has been impressive. There's already a pretty clearly defined route, and locals have been seeing structures being built for some time.
Now, some of the structures being built need to be finished. There's going to be a bridge installed over Lambert Road, and the DOT is getting the word out that a big detour is set to begin on Monday, which will re-route traffic around this work area. And the work that's slated to be done, won't be completed until November, barring any unforeseen circumstances. This info came straight from the Brewer Police Department.
So what will this mean for drivers?
According to the post from the Brewer PD, traffic will be re-directed away from the Lambert Road intersection, over to the Clewleyville Road intersection. They will install turnarounds for plows, buses and emergency vehicles.
It's no secret the whole project has been very polarizing for locals who live in the area. Not everyone's excited about a new highway running through their backyard. While others are elated at the prospect of being able to get over to Route 9 in Eddington without having to get off the highway and travel Route 1A.
The whole project is supposed to be completed sometime in 2025.
Here are some great photos of the beginning of the project...
