Halloween night could be a little scarier than usual.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the period of Thursday night into Friday morning, for the areas of Central Highlands, Coastal Downeast, Far Eastern, Far Northern, Interior Downeast, North Woods, and Penobscot Valley here in Maine.

The Outlook states that "wind gusts of 60 mph or higher could happen during the time period, with the most likely area of occurrence being along the downeast coast. Heavy rain is expected later Thursday and into Friday with possible rainfall totals up to 2 inches across portions of the area."

Southwesterly winds between 17 and 25 mph will continue throughout Friday.

Both Central Maine Power (CMP) and Emera Maine are making preparations for the rain and windstorm that will affect Maine.
