Despite Mother Nature's best attempt to derail a day of free family fun by following a string of 80+ degree days with one that barely scratched 50--and was full of strong, gusty winds, the 3rd Annual Brewer Riverwalk Festival took place this past weekend.

Organizers split the day's activities up in several different locations in and around town.

Brewer's Mayor, Soubanh Phanthay, says the event is to both celebrate the beautiful waterfront that Brewer has and is also a great opportunity for folks to better get to know what Brewer has to offer.

"It brings the community together. It means a lot to Brewer because it shows the community around us what we have to offer. The gem of the waterfront has been a hidden gem for a while...but not for dog walkers. Dog walkers already know...People come down here for weddings and graduations. It just means a lot to the local business because too. So the local businesses will get to have that exposure that they don't usually get to have because people shop in Bangor."

Due to the chilly temps and winds that day, hot things to eat and drink were in high demand.

In another section of town, dozens of crafters lined the parking lot of Tozier's Market to show off their hand-made products.

These local artisans were particularly brave as the wind gusts kept lifting tents up in the air and knocking over displays. That did not stop the crafters from selling their wares at this local craft fair.

Fingers crossed that Mother Nature cooperates next year, and sends some sunshine our way.

Stroll Through These Photos Of The Brewer Riverwalk

The 1.1mile-long Brewer Riverwalk gives a vantage point to all three bridges that cross between Brewer and Bangor and the Bangor Waterfront. There's plenty of park benches along the way to sit and take in the sights.
