At about 5:30 Sunday morning, the small town at just a ways past the corner of Routes 9 and 193, and not too far from Hancock County, experienced earthquake #4 for the year here in Maine.

The United State Geological Survey reports that an earthquake registering 1.8 magnitude shook the ground approximately 2.5 miles west northwest of the town of Beddington, yesterday morning.  The small quake west centered about 2.75 miles below the surface of the earth.

A 1.8 magnitude earthquake is considered minor and is rarely felt, unless someone is standing very close to the epicenter and is not disturbed by noise of some sort, like wind or traffic. So far, none of the 50 or so people living in Beddington have reported noticing Sunday morning's earthquake.
