Dr. Marc Gousse the AOS 91 Superintendent sent out the following letter to the school community informing them that effective January 4th AOS 91 would switch to full remote learning for a minimum of 2 weeks.

Here's the letter

Good Afternoon,

Following consultation, recommendations and support of MDI Hospital, MDIRSS AOS # 91 Board Chairs and MDIRSS Administrators, given the sudden and significant rise in positive cases of COVID-19 in our region the immediate shift to remote learning for all MDIRSS AOS # 91 schools is necessary to support the health, safety and well-being of our students, staff and communities.

Given the potential impact of holiday travel, gatherings and community events in our area, it is essential we implement this transition immediately to mitigate further exposure and community spread of COVID-19. Effective Monday, January 04, 2021 all MDIRSS AOS # 91 member schools will shift to remote learning for all students/staff for a minimum of two weeks (through Friday, January 15, 2021. ) We will continue to assess daily and provide updates and information as to when we may resume hybrid/in-person school based operations in MDIRSS AOS # 91 schools. Additional information from building principals for students, families and staff will follow this message in support of this transition.

Due to the increase of COVID-19 positive cases on Mount Desert Island and surrounding communities, Mount Desert Island Hospital will be providing access to their Winter Testing Facility on Sunday, January 03, 2021. The call line 207-801-5520 will be open at 8:00 am tomorrow to schedule testing for anyone who feels they may have come in contact with a COVID-19 positive community member. If they are on the line when you call, please leave a message so they can ensure your call is returned. Testing will take place @ Mount Desert Island Hospital from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

During this period of remote instruction it is very important everyone remain vigilant, avoid gathering in groups, limit travel, monitor for symptoms, wear masks, practice good hygiene and maintain physical distancing.  Thank you for your continued support and commitment to doing the right things to keep everyone healthy and safe. Take care and please check email frequently for updates and further information. Should you have any questions please reach out to your building principal.
