Bangor Area Homeless Shelter Asks “Can You Help?”
There are so many people coming through the warming centers, day programs and as guests of the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter that the organization is asking the public for help replenishing supplies of essential items folks need.

They put the call out on their Facebook Page this week, asking people to consider donating some of the simple yet important things that help people get by.
Things they need:
Full-size shampoo and conditioner, men's and women's razors and shaving creme, new packages of men's and women's underwear, men's sweatpants, and jeans.
They're also hoping for some specific food donations.
"Canned fruit in regular-sized cans for the food pantry. We don’t need giant cans for guests. A bunch of cooking sauces and meat marinades would be great. Mayo, big containers please because we're serving 40 people."
What they do with the donations:
The Bangor Area Homeless Shelter offers Bangor's Unhoused population several different support options including a Day Program where adults can come each day between 8 AM and 4 PM and use the bathroom, and the phone, acquire basic clothing and hygiene items they may need, and connect with resources they need.
They also have a food pantry that's open every Tuesday and Thursday where folks can visit once a month to collect food.
For adults not already living at the shelter, the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter provides a free lunch program every day starting at 11:45 AM
In the winter months from December through the end of March, they also operate a Warming Center from 6 PM to 5:30 AM, where people can come in from the cold and rest a bit.
If you want to donate, you can drop items off at the shelter at 263 Main Street, between 8 AM and 4 PM. If you prefer, you can also order from their Walmart Wish List or their Amazon Wish List and have it delivered right to their door.
If you'd like to help in another way, you can consider creating a team, collecting pledges, and taking part in their annual Hike for the Homeless event on April 5th. For more details on that, you can click here.
