Lace Up Your Boots: 28th Annual “Hike For The Homeless” Is Saturday
There's no question, the issue of homelessness is on the minds of a lot of folks in the greater Bangor area.
This weekend, there's something tangible that we can do as a community to make a difference in the lives of our "neighbors without walls." We can lace up our shoes and get ready to walk!
Back in-person, after a few years of being virtual (thanks to the pandemic) this is the 28th Hike For The Homeless that Bangor has hosted. And it's going to take place "rain or shine."
The 2.3 Mile loop around Bangor will kick off at the big Compass down on the Bangor Waterfront.
We're told folks will start gathering at 10 AM, with the "Hike" around town taking off from the compass at 10:30 AM.
All the proceeds gathered from the fundraiser go directly to the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter.
According to their website and event page, this event is the shelter's biggest fundraiser of the year.
"This event is meant to bring community members together to raise awareness and funds to help address homelessness in our community. We are excited to be returning to an in-person Hike this year and look forward to seeing our friends, supporters, and canine participants. There are several ways that you can participate in this worthy event including sponsorship, putting together a team to hike on April 1st, collecting pledges, or by making an "I can't be there, but I care" donation. To register or for additional details please visit https://www.bangorareashelter.org/hike-for-the-homeless/. Should you have any questions please contact info@bangorareashelter.org "
All registered participants will be entered to win a prize. There will also be guest speakers on hand, and they'll be raffling off prizes as well at the end of the walk.
