Bangor Police Arrest Two for Domestic Assault in Unrelated Weekend Incidents
Two men face domestic violence charges after a pair of unrelated weekend arrests in Bangor.
In the first incident, Roderick Martin, 44, of Mineola, Texas, was arrested on charges of Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault, and Domestic Violence Assault.
Sergeant Jason McAmbley Public Information Officer with the Bangor Police Department said dispatchers received a call regarding a possible fight over the weekend. Once they spoke with the victim and identified Martin as a suspect, they realized he was wanted in another state in connection with a similar crime.
"At about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th, Bangor officers went to a local motel after receiving a call about an assault that had occurred in one of the rooms...Martin was located and arrested in Ellsworth at about 7:30 a.m. Monday."
In the second incident, Richard Lee, 24, of Bangor was arrested on Union Street on Saturday afternoon, after authorities were called to investigate reports of a man assaulting a woman.
Sgt. McAmbley with the Bangor PD says that when Lee was identified as the suspect they were looking for, authorities were made aware that he was also wanted on several other warrants for failure to appear in court.
"When the first officer arrived and located the couple, the male suspect attempted to flee after the officer attempted to detain him. The officer was able to subdue the suspect and, with assistance from a second officer who had arrived on the scene, was able to place the suspect in handcuffs. When the officer attempted to place the suspect into a cruiser, he again attempted to flee and was again subdued. "
Lee was charged with Domestic Violence Assault and failure to submit to arrest.
Bot Martin and Lee were taken to the Penobscot County Jail following their arrests.
